Travel blogging???

Mr. S and I just attended an event called Meet, Plan, Go!  They invited speakers who have taken some time off, most about a year off, and traveled around the world.  There were people in their 20s, 30s, 40s and older who attended or have done it.  It was very interesting to meet people who had quit their stable job to travel for a year and had come back with a brand new self to start a career helping people who had similar interests.

If you didn't know, Mr. S and I are both serious travelers.  The past couple years together, we have been to so many places.  Last year we took a big trip to Vietnam and Cambodia for 3 weeks.  It was amazing!

I have never thought about taking a year off to go travel and still will probably not do so.  However, the event did strengthen my believe that I can travel whenever I want even with a family.  Most of the speakers became bloggers during or after their trips.  We spoke with Lee and Sachi LeFever, the owners of Common Craft.  In 2006, they saved up as much as they could and then took a year off to travel around the world.  During their journey, they would continue to blog at The World Is Not Flat and which inspired them to make videos during travel.  After listening and talking with them, I thought  maybe I could do the same thing.  Not that I am planning to get a career out of it, but it does sound kind of fun.

We are leaving for our big trip to Egypt and Jordan in a month and I am going to bring my smart phone to continue to blog about the trip.  I am getting even more excited just thinking about it :).
